  Today , NCP leader Ajit Pawar and eight other party legislators took their oaths as ministers and joined the Maharashtra administration. Although not entirely unexpected, the surprise action has caused the state's political landscape to shift once more.




As Maharashtra's deputy chief minister, Ajit Pawar took the oath of office. Devendra Fadnavis of the BJP will share the position with him.



Ajit Pawar of the Nationalist Congress Party has joined the Maharashtra administration.As deputy chief minister, Ajit Pawar took an oath. Ajit Pawar said, "I was never interested in working as Leader of the Opposition but accepted the role on the request of the party MLAs," on Wednesday at a party event in Mumbai. Any position you offer me in the party organisation, I will fulfil it to the best of my ability.





[Eknath Shinde's "Triple-Engine Government" Gets a Thumbs Up After Ajit Pawar's Big Switch Senior NCP member Ajit Pawar on Sunday joined the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra administration and took an oath to serve as the state's deputy chief minister. Mr. Shinde noted that the double-engine government has evolved into a triple-engine one at the time.



There is now only one chief minister and two deputy chief ministers. The previously dual-engine government is now tri-engine. I welcome Ajit Pawar and his leaders for the advancement of Maharashtra. The expertise of Ajit Pawar will help Maharashtra grow, according to Mr. Shinde.



Hours after meeting with some of his party's leaders at his official residence in Mumbai, Ajit Pawar abruptly took the oath of office. Supriya Sule, the working president of the NCP, and senior NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal attended the meeting in Ajit Pawar's official mansion, "Devgiri," however state party president Jayant Patil was absent. A few NCP MLAs also attended the gathering.



Sharad Pawar, the head of the NCP, had earlier in the day claimed to be "unaware" of his nephew Ajit Pawar's meeting. He said, however, that Ajit, who at the time was the leader of opposition (LoP) in the Maharashtra Assembly, had the authority to hold a conference of lawmakers.




Up to 30 of the 53 NCP MLAs in the state are said to support Ajit Pawar. 


On Wednesday, Ajit Pawar declared that he wanted to leave his role as Maharashtra's leader of the opposition and apply for any party position.


He stated, "I was never interested in serving as Leader of the Opposition but accepted the role on the request of the party MLAs," while speaking at the party event in Mumbai. Any position you offer me in the party organisation, I will fulfil it to the best of my ability.
